We’ve been loving our new Halcen dinner set so much! My favourite thing about them is they’re actually just so kid proof! Out with the flaking and warping plastic bowls for our boys and in with these!

One of the small changes we’ve made as a family is choosing products that can handle real life. No fuss. No worrying about breakages. Just beautiful stainless steel pieces that move from breakfast to backyard snacks to nature adventures.

I absolutely love my new Halcen dinnerware… also dinnerware that survives our kids! No more kids fighting over different colours, they’re easy to clean and they don’t shatter all over the floor when they’re eventually dropped. Perfect for our busy family. They arrived super quickly too!

Description

The dinner table is where a family's memory gets made, one ordinary night at a time.

The Family Table is four settings in 304 stainless steel, built so the set at the centre of those years is still there at the end of them.

You've replaced enough plates by now. This is the service you keep.

  • Four full settings with cups in two sizes, 200ml for the small people and 400ml for whoever cooked
  • 304 stainless steel, the same grade your cutlery has always been
  • The double wall keeps dinner warm for the slowest eater at the table

Steel won't shatter on the tiles, though it can collect a scratch or a small dent along the way.

Ten years from now those marks will be the record of the dinners in between, which beats a set kept perfect in a cupboard.

No plastic anywhere in it

Three meals a day, every day, for years. It's worth knowing what those meals are sitting on and with this the answer is simple.

Nice enough to leave out

The thing we hear most is that people don't want to put them away. Open shelves, benchtops, stacked next to the kettle. They look better out than hidden behind a door.

It matches whatever your table already is

Timber, linen, marble, laminate. Plain steel has no colour to clash with, so you're not stuck buying a whole new look to go with new plates.

Nobody has to be careful with it

No "hold that with two hands", no keeping the good set in the top cupboard. Steel takes the tiles, the dishwasher and years of knives and forks. The fine scratches & dents that come with that are the proof it got used.

Why Australian families are making the switch.

No mystery

Steel surface. Nothing underneath. Nothing to flake off into dinner.

Ends the replacement cycle

Buy it once. Ceramic chips. Plastic warps. This doesn't.

Kid-proof. Guest-ready.

Tough at the table. Beautiful when it counts.

Try it. Return it if it's not right. Done.

Have questions?

What's included in The Family Table?

Four dinner plates (21cm), four bowls (15cm), two 200ml cups, and two 400ml cups — twelve pieces in total. All 304 stainless steel, brushed satin finish, double-walled and dishwasher safe. Everything a family of four needs at the table, every night.

What sizes are the plates and bowls?

The dinner plates are 21cm and the bowls are 15cm. Families use the 200ml cups for younger kids and the 400ml cups for adults and older children. Both plate and bowl sizes stack flat in the cupboard, which is something families mention often once the mismatched plastic is gone.

Will it scratch over time?

Yes — and that's worth being upfront about. Stainless steel picks up light scratches with daily use, particularly from cutlery and the dishwasher. That's the material behaving exactly as it should.

The brushed satin finish is chosen specifically because it wears well. Unlike polished steel, which shows every mark, the brushed surface absorbs scratches into the grain over time. Most families find the set looks better at two years than it did at two weeks — a little more settled, a little more theirs.

This isn't dinnerware that stays perfect in a cabinet. It's dinnerware that goes on the table every day, goes through the dishwasher every night, and accumulates a history with your family along the way. The scratches are part of that.

If you're after something that stays showroom-pristine forever, stainless steel isn't it. If you're after something that lasts decades regardless, it is.

Can I put stainless steel dinnerware in the microwave or oven?

Both the microwave and oven are a NO for our stainless steel dinnerware.

Metal and microwaves don’t mix and our pieces are designed for the table rather than oven use.

For reheating, a saucepan on the stovetop is your best bet.

Is this set suitable for adults or just kids?

Both, though most families buy The Starter Table specifically for their kids and add a larger bundle for the adults at the table. If you're after a full set for four, The Family Table is where most households land.

What material is this made from?

304 stainless steel throughout — no coatings, no composites. Families switch to this after realising their plastic plates and bowls were degrading in the dishwasher over time. The steel doesn't change what it's made of whether it goes through the dishwasher once or a thousand times.

Care Guide - How do I look after the set?

304 stainless steel is about as low-maintenance as dinnerware gets — which is part of why families switch to it.

Dishwasher safe every time, no exceptions. If you prefer hand washing, warm water and a mild dish soap with a soft cloth is all it needs. Dry it promptly to avoid water spots, though the brushed satin finish is forgiving enough that most families don't bother.

For anything stubborn — the occasional stain or dull patch — a paste of baking soda and water applied with a soft cloth, then rinsed and dried, brings it back. A wipe with a little white vinegar followed by a dry cloth does the same job.

No abrasive scourers, no steel wool. Everything else is fair game. The set is built to be used daily and washed daily — that's the point of it.

What's your returns policy?

30-day beautiful home trial, no questions asked. Most families keep it — but if it's not right, return it within 30 days for a full refund. No forms, no friction.

Built by two Australian mums who couldn't find what they were looking for. So they created Halcen.
